Located
within the headwaters of the Don and Humber Rivers, Vaughan residents
have the unique opportunity to enjoy "nature" in the City. To
take full advantage of our natural environment, the City of Vaughan, in
cooperation with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, is developing
a continuous trail system with planned links to communities and open spaces.
Vaughan offers a variety of outdoor leisure opportunities through its
parks and open space systems. With approximately 300 hectares (740 acres)
of active parkland, ranging from local neighbourhood parks and parkettes
to large sports parks and natural open spaces, the City of Vaughan has
a lot to offer the outdoor enthusiast. In addition to playgrounds, water
play features and sports fields, the City also operates the Uplands Golf
and Ski Centre in Thornhill.
