Yonge Street Area Study (North and South)

| Purpose:
The purpose of the study is to determine an urban design and land
use framework for the lands on the west side of Yonge Street, from
Steeles Avenue to Highway 407 (excluding the Thornhill Heritage
Conservation District) , and on the north side of Steeles Avenue,
from Yonge Street to west of Hilda Avenue . Please refer to the
Study Area Map below.
Timeframe:
The Study began in the spring of 2008.
Current Status:
On June 5, 2008 the first Public Open House Meeting was held at
the Thornhill Presbyterian Church to introduce the project and consulting
team. On September 16, 2008, a workshop was held at the Rosemount
Community Centre. A third Public Meeting was held on November 4,
2008 at the Bathurst Clark Library to allow the public to participate
in a Design Charette to brainstorm potential urban design and land
use options. On March 30,, 2009 an Open House Meeting was held at
the Bathurst Clark Library to present and collect public feedback
on the preferred options generated from the study analysis and public
input.
