In heavy snowfalls it takes the City longer
to get all our streets cleared. Please be patient, we’ll get
there. |
DO'S AND DON'TS
DO shovel the sidewalks
in front of your property as soon as possible after a storm. The
City has a program of sidewalk ploughing to assist you during heavy
snowfalls, however we still need your help to keep our sidewalks
safe for everyone.
DO bookmark this
website and visit regularly for updates on snow clearing operations.
DO call the SNOW
Hotline at (905) 879-SNOW to report any problem areas.
Those individuals without Internet access can get updates on snow
clearing operations during snowstorms by calling the SNOW Hotline.
This information will help you plan your schedule and keep our other
telephone lines free for emergencies and operational matters.
DO be patient. In
heavy snowfalls it takes us longer to get all our streets cleared.
We have to plough primary roads first, followed by secondary roads
and cul-de-sacs, and finally, laneways. We'll get there!
DO drive carefully.
Winter road conditions vary dramatically. Be cautious and courteous.
DON'T park on the
street during or immediately following a storm. We cannot clear
the snow if there are parked vehicles on the street. Parking
is prohibited from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. all year. During the winter,
your vehicle may be tagged and/or towed away at any time, if it
is impeding snow clearing operations.
DON'T park at the
end of your driveway or over the sidewalk. This is for pedestrian
safety and to help facilitate sidewalk snow clearing operations.
Your vehicle may be tagged and/or towed away.
DON'T place snow
from sidewalks or driveways on the street following a storm. The
Ontario Highway Traffic Act prohibits the placing of snow or ice
on a roadway. As the plough will not return until the next storm,
help keep your neighbourhood safe and accessible for you, your family
and neighbours.
