Description of Services:

The municipal building permit process is a public service to ensure that construction and use of buildings and land meet the standards established by both municipal and provincial levels of government primarily to ensure public safety and well being.  The building permit process is administered by the Building Standards Department and permits are issued where submissions conform with code, bylaws and agreements regulating construction and land use.

The City of Vaughan has made a strong commitment to promoting development.  In this context the Building Standards Department is committed to ensuring reasonable compliance with building standards of the Ontario Building Code and other applicable law, providing the ultimate level of client service achievable in a timely, cost-effective and consistent manner, and in an environment which is accessible, progressive and fair.
