As the Council Liaison Clerk in the Enforcement Services Department, you will beesponsible for receiving and responding to Councillor requests for information on open and closed investigations, and providing updates within the parameters of the Freedom of Information Act. Receives complaints from Councillors and creates files on the Case Tracking System (CTS) and provides clerical assistance to the Director, Enforcement Services, in support of the Office Coordinator.

Solid knowledge of the Municipal and Provincial Freedom of Information Acts including practical application. Solid judgement skills in the application of the Freedom of Information legislation. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and courteously with the Mayor and Members of Council, all levels of staff, and the general public. Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and the Case Management System (CTS). Minimum of one (1) year secretarial/clerical experience preferably in a government, service, or public relations environment. Ability to work rotating shifts.

As the Part Time After Hours Dispatcher in the Public Works Department, you will provide exceptional customer service by responding to emergency calls such as hazardous spills, watermain breaks, meter leaks and sewer back-ups as well as addressing other various safety concerns after regular office hours and taking appropriate action. A high level of efficiency and professionalism is required as you are consistently liaising with City staff, the public and external agencies. You will also perform base radio control functions including dispatching staff, contractors & equipment, recording the location of outside staff, their start/completion time and assignments. 
 
The successful candidate will have a Secondary School diploma and a minimum one (1) year experience in a customer service environment. Preference will be given to those with previous dispatch and/or municipal experience. You must be able to keep neat, accurate records and possess proficient keyboarding skills. You must be reliable and highly responsible as you often work alone and unsupervised.

You must be available to work a rotating shift evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.

TRANSPORTATION ANALYST

As the Transportation Analyst in the Development/Transportation Engineering Department, you will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring of transportation planning projects and programs; preparing engineering designs, plans and reports; reviews and updates City standards. You will analyze transportation data, compile statistical records and perform field inspection duties in the area of transportation engineering. Review and comment on transportation issues at all stages of proposed developments; review and coordinate special projects including the preparation of Terms of Reference. In addition, you will coordinate and oversee the work activities of assigned technical staff. 

The successful candidate will have:

Community College Diploma in a three year Civil Engineering Technology program. Fully Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation in good standing in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians. Minimum of three years transportation engineering experience, preferably in a municipal environment and including one year experience coordinating the work of others;

OR

University Degree in Civil Engineering. Eligible and working towards full membership in the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Minimum of two years transportation engineering experience, preferably in a municipal environment.

In addition, you will be proficient in the application of computer software programs related to areas of municipal servicing, project engineering/planning, transportation engineering/planning or project coordination and administration in accordance with job responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical/interpretive, and oral and written communication skills.  Ability to deal courteously and effectively with internal staff, external agencies, public, consultants, developers, builders and contractors, etc. Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant Provincial statutes and regulations, in accordance with job responsibilities. Valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license in good standing with a reliable vehicle when required, to utilize on City business.

The City of Vaughan is looking to hire Stand-By Crossing Guards
for Thornhill and Maple.


School Crossing Guards are an integral and important part of the community. These highly dedicated
men and women work every school day to protect and assist the children across busy streets.

Stand-by School Crossing Guards are an important part of the Crossing Guard Program
as they are called to work when permanent guards are absent to ensure the continued safety of our children.

 

Starting pay is $12.25 per hour

Crossing Guards are paid a minimum 3 hours per day

You may be eligible to receive a daily travel allowance

 

Candidates Must:

  • Exercise good judgement
  • Possess alertness and observation skills
  • Be courteous and have the ability to deal effectively with children, pedestrians, school and/or other staff
  • Endure varying weather conditions
  • Be punctual and stay for the entire scheduled shift time
  • Be able to understand and follow instructions
    (written and oral)
  • Be able to stand for an extended period of time
  • Be able to carry and raise a stop paddle
  • Have the ability to actively supervise children while crossing
